In response to criticism from committee members regarding the government’s failure to leverage the potential of the Pakistani diaspora, secretary of the ministry of overseas Pakistanis and human resource development, Arshad Mahmood, provided a grim outlook on the situation, highlighting issues such as high crime rates and inappropriate behavior among Pakistani workers in the UAE, and a general lack of skills among the workforce.
Mahmood disclosed that Pakistanis reportedly account for 50 percent of the crime rate among the labour force in the UAE. He mentioned that UAE authorities have raised concerns about inappropriate behavior, including making videos of women in Dubai without their consent.
