Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Kyiv, Ukraine on Friday, after completing his two-day visit to Poland. With this, PM Modi became the first ever Indian Prime Minister to visit Ukraine since it got independence from the Soviet Union in 1991. PM Modi said that he will share perspectives with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on a peaceful resolution of the country’s ongoing conflict with Russia. The visit comes at a crucial point in the war in Ukraine, with Ukrainian forces still in Russia’s western Kursk region, following their incursion on August 6, and Russian troops grinding out slow but steady advances in Ukraine’s east.
