Police arrest Indian religious leader after weeklong standoff 인도 경찰, 종교지도자 체포

Police have arrested a religious leader in India… concluding a tense, week-long standoff that had been covered live by local news channels for days.
Former junior engineer Baba Rampal Maharaj… turned “god-man”… had blockaded himself and some 15-thousand followers in a heavily fortified ashram… exchanging fire with police that hurt hundreds in the days-long operation.
The 63-year-old is wanted for a 2006 murder case and for contempt of court. He and his followers are also accused of holding people hostage in the sprawling ashram… and using women and children as human shields.
