The Preamble was the last Part to be inserted in the Constitution. The Preamble has been given a lot of names such as identity card of the Constitution, Soul of the Constitution, etc. By the end of the Video we will also discuss 2 very important questions:
1. Is Preamble a Part of the Indian Constitution?
2. Can the Preamble be Amended?
And we will answer these questions through 2 important case laws: Re Berubari and Exchange of Enclaves and Kesavananda Bharati v. State of Kerala
Preamble serves the following purpose:
– It specifies the Source of the Constitution
– It specifies the Nature of the Constitution
– It specifies the ideas, Aspirations and main Objectives of that the Indian Constitution seeks to achieve
– It also specifies the date of Adoption of the Constitution i.e., 26th November 1949.
