You know how rituals are colourful, joyous and always accompanied with a variety of food. But some of these very rituals are restrictive in nature if you scratch below the surface. They keep some people out. Have you noticed how in most Indian festivals and poojas, women are at the forefront? Planning, executing and celebrating. Ram should not be considered god with kind of mistakes he made with his loyal wife. Ramayan is a pure example of putting all females in bad light. Showing women as evil. Karwachauth in which a wife fastes for her husbands long life. Or ram naumi where men or women wash feet of young girls as sign or respect. Where such rituals exist.. giving women the power as laxmi(wealth) but in the same place having double standards and restricting them to work, or wearing certain clothes, beating them , rape , domestic violence, female foeticide, child marriage.
