Bhakti Yoga is a real genuine search after the Lord, a search beginning, continuing, and ending in Love.

Swami Vivekananda 12 January 1863 – 4 July 1902, born Narendranath Datta, was an Indian Hindu monk, a chief disciple of the 19th-century Indian mystic Ramakrishna. He was a key figure in the introduction of the Indian philosophies of Vedanta and Yoga to the Western world and is credited with raising interfaith awareness, bringing Hinduism to the status of a major world religion during the late 19th century. He was a major force in the revival of Hinduism in India, and contributed to the concept of nationalism in colonial India. Vivekananda founded the Ramakrishna Math and the Ramakrishna Mission. He is perhaps best known for his speech which began with the words - "Sisters and brothers of America in which he introduced Hinduism at the Parliament of the World's Religions in Chicago in 1893.Swami Vivekananda revealed to the world the true foundations of India's unity as a nation. He taught how a nation with such a vast diversity can be bound together by a feeling of humanity and brother-hood. Vivekananda emphasized the points of drawbacks of western culture and the contribution of India to overcome those. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose once said: “Swamiji harmonized the East and the West, religion and science, past and present. And that is why he is great. Our countrymen have gained unprecedented self-respect, self-reliance and self-assertion from his teachings.” Vivekananda was successful in constructing a virtual bridge between the culture of East and the West. He interpreted the Hindu scriptures, philosophy and the way of life to the Western people. He made them realize that in spite of poverty and backwardness, India had a great contribution to make to world culture. He played a key role in ending India's cultural isolation from the rest of the world. Vivekanand Ki AtmakathaVivekanand Ki Atmakatha

The Path of Devotion: Swami Paramananda’s Spiritual Guidance on the Path of Divine Love

From the Publisher

The Path of Devotion by Swami Paramananda

The Path of Devotion by Swami Paramananda The Path of Devotion by Swami Paramananda

Paramananda (1884–1940) was a swami and one of the early Indian teachers who went to the United States to spread the Vedanta philosophy.

Man was meant to live in peace with himself, to be filled with a sense of deep joy, and to have a clear understanding of the purpose of life. To know God, to realize him, to be one with him, feeling his presence in all things - this is man's natural and true nature. Realizing our true nature is the sole purpose in living this life- nothing more and nothing less. What we must aspire to do is to awaken and utilize our innermost potentials to their infinite capacity, to live life to the full. For each individual there is a way, a path that will lead him to his real self; that is his dharma, which will enable him to leave this life of confusion and suffering behind. Although the goal is one, the paths to it are many and it is the responsibility of each of us to find the one that will suit our nature and personality. Once the way is found, doors will open wide upon a whole new life. Here, we are concerned with one particular path, that of divine love which in yogic terms is known as bhakti yoga. The word bhakti comes from the Sanskrit root word bhaja, which means 'to serve, adore, love and be devoted' Customer Reviews 3.9 out of 5 stars 11 4.4 out of 5 stars 36 4.1 out of 5 stars 21 4.5 out of 5 stars 2 4.6 out of 5 stars 1,020 5.0 out of 5 stars 10 Price ₹51.45₹51.45 ₹52.48₹52.48 ₹51.45₹51.45 ₹46.02₹46.02 ₹51.45₹51.45 ₹51.45₹51.45

Karma Yoga (Swami Vivekananda Motivational & Inspirational Book) – Path to Selfless Action: Swami Vivekananda’s Teachings on Karma Yoga for Motivation and Inspiration

Karma Yoga (Swami Vivekananda Motivational & Inspirational Book)

Karma Yoga (Swami Vivekananda Motivational & Inspirational Book)Karma Yoga (Swami Vivekananda Motivational & Inspirational Book)

Based on lectures the Swami delivered in his rented rooms at 228 W 39th Street in December, 1895 and January, 1896.

He is perhaps best known for his speech which began with the words - "Sisters and brothers of America in which he introduced Hinduism at the Parliament of the World's Religions in Chicago in 1893.The word Karma is derived from the Sanskrit Kri, to do; all action is Karma. Technically, this word also means the effects of actions. In connection with metaphysics, it sometimes means the effects, of which our past actions were the causes. But in Karma-Yoga we have simply to do with the word Karma as meaning work. The goal of mankind is knowledge; that is the one ideal placed before us by Eastern philosophy. Pleasure is not the goal of man, but knowledge. Pleasure and happiness come to an end. It is a mistake to suppose that pleasure is the goal; the cause of all the miseries we have in the world is that men foolishly think pleasure to be the ideal to strive for. After a time man finds that it is not happiness, but knowledge, towards which he is going, and that both pleasure and pain are great teachers, and that he learns as much from evil as from good. As pleasure and pain pass before his soul they leave upon it different pictures, and the result of these combined impressions is what is called man's "character." If you take the character of any man it really is but the aggregate of tendencies, the sum-total of the bent of his mind; you will find that misery and happiness are equal factors in the formation of that character. Good and evil have an equal share in moulding character, and in some instances misery is a greater teacher than happiness. In studying the great characters the world has produced, I dare say, in the vast majority of cases, it would be found that it was misery that taught more than happiness, it was poverty that taught more than wealth, it was blows that brought out their inner fire more than praise.Although the Swami delivered many lectures and held numerous classes in the two years and five months he had been in America, these lectures constituted a departure in the way they were recorded. Just prior to the commencement of his Winter -95-96 season in NYC, his friends and supporters aided him by advertising for and ultimately hiring a professional stenographer: The man selected, Joseph Josiah Goodwin, later became a disciple of the Swami and followed him to England and India.
