In 2021 China did something terrible which affected these countries. China cut the 50% water flow of the Mekong River for three weeks without any warning. This decision affected the lives of millions of people living here. It impacted fishing, farming and transportation activities.
China could do this because it controls the roof of the world, the water tower of Asia- Tibet.
China is an upper riparian state. Riparian state means a state located alongside a river. Mostly, upper riparian states enjoy commanding heights and can control the flow of the river.
By controlling Tibet, China can regulate the flow of water and can even use these water-resources as a military tool. But how?
