On February 06, 2023, a devastating earthquake happened in Turkey and Syria. The death toll has crossed 33000 in both Turkey and Syria and is expected to rise further.
India launched Operation Dost to extend assistance to Turkey as well as Syria after devastating quakes and aftershocks in the region.
So far, 7 C17 planes from India has reached Turkey. These planes carrying rescue personnel, essentials, and medical equipment for earthquake relief efforts.
Operation Dost is India’s latest expression of being a first responder, a net security provider, and a country whose Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief response is quick and available to countries not only in the neighbouring region, but also beyond.
